John Beatty

John grew up in Florida spending a great deal of his time outdoors. He gained an appreciation of nature from his grandfather who taught him to fish and bird watch. A naturally gifted artist who has been drawing since he was old enough to hold a pencil, John received his formal art education at the University of North Florida. He has captured the beauty of his home state of Florida on canvas for more than two decades. His painting are held by private and corporate collectors.

He is influenced by such painters as: John Singer Sargent, Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh, and contemporary artists: Mark Rothko, Wolf Kahn and Dale Chihuly. His body of work moves between abstraction and impressionism that reveals the essence of the subject without getting mired in the details. Some of the images are from his dreams or memories of places. Others are from his backyard- the Intracoastal Waterway and the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida or his favorite vacation destination- Sanibel Island, Florida.

“These paintings are dreams, imaginations and impressions of my world. My hope is that the viewer feels and sees them like I do or they discover the possibilities of their own dreams.”......John Beatty
